Daniene Byrne Collaboration Bio

Text

Hi everyone

So happy to join you all.

I am a fifth year PhD Student at Stony Brook University, on Long Island in New York.

Our department is within Stony Brook's College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and is generally very quantitative, but I also have interests in science communication and policy, technological design as well as the social and cultural impacts of technology, which brings me to this conference.

My research is centered on Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS) and how regulations are developing here in the US and the role of public comment and opinion on shaping policies.

I will be using a mix of research methods to study both the regulatory process and the academic and public contributions that shape future transportation technologies.

I am also very involved in my community and with public comments at a local level. I serve on a school board and tonight we have a major meeting on the district’s response to covid.  So I will keep this brief.

I look forward to meeting all of you and learning more about your research.

Daniene
