different temporalities clashing

In the daily procedures in the schools, the data production and movement works like a loop as it is repeated every day. In this process, data is exchanged at a very high speed, as the replacement for the teacher who is sick has to be found before the lesson starts. Thus, the phone calls, emails and UNTIS in- and outputs are done very quickly.

To capture aspects of speed and temporality in the data journey analysis and especially in the visualizations is very difficult.

Even more so, as the timeframes of the ministry or the political discourses seem to be not always in synch with that of schools. The different temporalities that are enacted create frictions, especially when political urgent data requests clash with busy times in the schools.

We take away the open question, how cycles can be integrated into the data journey conceptualization. In the observed case of school data, various loops with different timespans are entangled. Periodical surveys conducted by the ministry and daily repetitions are coming together. The data journey never stops. Are we sitting in a roller coaster rather than in a train?
