Critical Commentary
The website links to oral histories of five immigrant scientists (4 men, 1 woman) who worked at DuPont during the 20th century. The scientists were born between 1912-1945 in Germany, Ukraine, China, India, and Canada. With this collection, I am curious to learn about what was it like to work for a chemical manufacturing company like DuPont. What organizational structures and work styles made "innovation" possible? Were there discussions on ethics in science? What do the scientists think about the relationship of science to industry?
