Critical Commentary

A interview guide I have been working on recently for an inqueriy of city officials working in the field of urban mobility. My goal is to to generate data to answer the following research question(s):

Research question: How do transport and mobility-related indicators influence the way in which the socio-ecological transformation of urban mobility is politically negotiated and practically implemented?

Subquestions:

  1. How do indicators influence local governance processes and, within these, the development of mobility policy strategies, and what communicative capabilities do these indicators include, especially in relation to relevant discourses and framings?
  2. What (potential) problems and pitfalls can be associated with the use of indicators for policymaking?
