Critical Commentary

This is an image that appears in Christopher Gad's "A Post-plural Attitude" in NatureCulture to illustrate a "the idea of an autonomous, freestanding, self-relying subject [as] a kind of dystopia, out of sync with reality." (Gad 2013, 71.) Gad argues that Sherman's images offer a "vision in which subjects are shaped through relations with other kinds of actors." (71)
