The starting point guides our analytical possibilities

++ Question about starting points ++

As the data journey is repeated in every-day school life, it is not possible to point at concrete start and end points. However, there are many points in the process at which one can start to follow the journey (however, as process it never ends).

The choice of the starting point for the observation results in different descriptions of the practices.

One possible starting point is the event of the teacher falling sick. This then seems like the trigger for the daily data journey.

Another possible point for departure is the practice of translation. And stillanother one would be within the ministry - with two different practices: the constitution of criteria for lesson cancellations as well as the processes of monitoring schools (in comparison).

Hence, one 'result' of our discussion is that besides the end points of data journeys, we also need to ask for the starting points (and remind ourselves: this is also our choice, and it guides our analytical possibilities).
